BENTON -- Gordon Carver, 74, of Benton died Thursday, March 23, 2000, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 28, 1925, in Antlers, Okla., son of Jesse Hubert and Beulah Mae Robbins Carver. He and Lilly Brewer were married Aug. 13, 1946, in Piggott, Ark.

Carver had been a truck driver and motel manager. He was a member of Garden Lane Community Baptist Church and served as a deacon.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Gordon Carver of Cobb Mountain, Calif., Stanley Carver of Clovis, Calif.; a daughter, Carol Abbruseato of Ventura, Calif.; two brothers, Jack Carver of Dallas, Texas, Tommy Carver of Sacramento, Calif.; a sister, Betty Morris of Lincoln, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, four brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston from 5-8 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph Marshall officiating. Burial will be in New Morley Cemetery at Morley.
