Goldie M. Benefield, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, June 13, 2021, at Heartland Care Rehab Center.
She was born July 10, 1936, in Cape Girardeau to Ray and Pearl Worley Pender. She and Billy G. Benefield were married Nov. 1, 1957, in Cape Girardeau.
She was a member of Hobbs Community Church. She started working at Hobbs Restaurant when she was 12 years old with her mother. After eight years, she went to work at International Shoe Factory for five years before becoming a full-time mom to raise her children. Goldie loved to learn about her Lord.
Survivors include her husband; two sons, Dennis (Karen) Benefield of Jackson, and Timmy (Lynnette) Benefield of Jackson; a daughter, Cindy Benefield of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Paul Pender of Chaffee, Missouri; and three grandchildren, Kayla, Cody and Casey.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Nelson, Howard and Larry Pender; and a sister, Jerry Sue Underwood.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at Hobbs Community Church on Highway 177 in Cape Girardeau.
Funeral service will follow at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at the church, with Billy Benefield officiating. Burial will be at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial contributions may be given to the Alzheimer's Association or the American Cancer Society.
