JONESBORO, Ill. -- George C. "Buster" Carter Jr., 73, died Saturday, Sept. 4, 1999, at his home in Jonesboro, Ill.

He was born March 8, 1926, in Chicago, son of George M. and Myrtle R. Dickerson Carter.

He and LaDonna R. Stoner were married Oct. 7, 1947, in Piggott, Ark.

Carter was employed as a used car dealer. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post 3455 in Anna, Ill. He was a member of Jonesboro Pentecostal Church.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Danny R. Carter of Karnak, Ill.; Larry W. Carter of Anna, Ill., Billy R. Carter and David C. Carter, both of Jonesboro, Ill.; one daughter, Cindi A. Bond of Anna, Ill.; one brother, Wayne Carter of Anna, Ill.; two sisters, Rosetta Rhymer of Anna, Ill., and Janet Sue Bergman of Columbia; 12 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Hileman & Parr Funeral Services in Jonesboro, Ill.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. The Rev. Gerald Green and the Rev. Herbert Wilson will officiate, with burial at Jonesboro Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by VFW Carroll P. Foster Post 3455.
