Gloria Faye Wadlington, 91, of Scott City passed away Friday, Feb. 28, 2020, at Ratliff Care Center surrounded by her loving family. She was born Nov. 28, 1928, in Fornfelt to William and Virginia Hall Ingvalson. She was united in marriage to Dean Wadlington on Aug. 5, 1948. He preceded her in death June 22, 2013.
Gloria Faye was an active member of Scott City First Baptist Church, where she played the organ and taught Sunday school more than 30 years. She worked at Missouri Utilities in Fornfelt for a brief period and later managed a grocery store with her husband, Dean. In the 1970s and 1980s, she owned the Big T Restaurant in Scott City.
She was a caring mother to their six children and delighted in being the loving grandma to 14 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She enjoyed bringing the family together for Sunday dinners and made every holiday special. She always put the needs of others in front of her own and made them feel loved by her warm smile and kind words. Gloria Faye and Dean were inseparable and had been married 64 years when Dean passed away.
Loving survivors include her children, Rick (Brenda) Wadlington of Lake St. Louis, Missouri, Susan (Don) Rogers of Benton, Missouri, Sally (Jim) Noon of Kelso, Missouri, Sheryl (Jim) Bollinger of Cape Girardeau, Shelly (Randy) Bohn of Kelso and Robert (Tammy) Wadlington of Benton; grandchildren, Bryan (Amber) Rogers and children, Aaron and Drew of Wildwood, Missouri, Leigh (Chris) Franklin and children, Kelsey, Kyra and Emily of St. Charles, Missouri, Sarah (Britt) Mirgaux and children, Julia, Katherine and Natalie of Kelso, Megan (Jordan) Charboneau and children, Harper and Henry of Tacoma, Washington, Matt (Meredith) Bollinger of Los Angeles, Rachel Noon (Jim McCartney) and son, Will of St. Louis, Evan Wadlington of Las Vegas, Brent Bohn of Kelso, Katie (Kyle) Junge and children, Barrett and Mackenzie of Lake St. Louis, Alison (Jason) Blandford and son, Easton of Perryville, Missouri, Michael Bohn of Kelso, Blake Wadlington of Benton, Austin (Victoria) Wadlington of Oran, Missouri, and Lauren Wadlington of Benton; brother, Kenneth Ingvalson of Scott City; and a brother-in-law, Art Doris of Denver.
She was also preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Billie Sue Doris.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Scott City First Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jeremy Sells officiating. Burial will follow at Lightner Cemetery in Scott City.
The family extends sincere gratitude to Ratliff Care Center and staff for the loving care Gloria Faye received.
