Gloria Dean Dumey, 76, formerly of Oak Ridge, passed away Monday, June 21, 2004, at the home of her daughter. She had lived in St. Charles, Mo., more than two years.
She was born Oct. 29, 1927, at Oran, Mo., daughter of Amos "Cleve" and Dora Mae Mull Evans. She and Ray A. Dumey were married May 7, 1949, in St. Louis. He passed away June 18, 2000.
Gloria graduated from Morley High School at Morley, Mo., in 1944, and joined Jewish Hospital nursing program before World War II ended. She then worked for Nooter Electronic Corp. to support the war effort.
She was an active member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church, involved with WMU, GAs and Sunday School. She and her husband served as All-American parents for foreign students attending Southeast Missouri State University.
Loving survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, David A. and Deborah Dumey of Ellisville, Mo.; a daughter, Jana K. Dumey of St. Charles; a sister, Mary Anthony Seabaugh of Perryville, Mo.; five grandchildren, Kara K. Dumey and fiance Chad Mihalick of Hermosa Beach, Calif., Bryan, Leah, Erica and Hannah Dumey, all of Ellisville.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jon Sedgwick officiating. Burial will be in Goshen Cemetery at Oak Ridge.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to First Baptist Church in Oak Ridge or the American Cancer Society.
