BENTON, Ill. -- Glenn L. Watkins, 98, of Benton died Sunday, Jan. 16, 2011, In Belleville, Ill.
He was born April 20, 1912, in Cape Girardeau, son of Burleigh M. and Eula M. Watkins. He was preceded in death by his wife, Josephine M. Watkins, and by his parents.
Glenn was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he served as a deacon; Benton Lodge of the Masons; American Legion; and Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a World War II veteran and received the Bronze Star in the Battle of the Bulge.
Glenn is survived by two nieces, Virginia L (Ted) Farmer, Carol K. Casserilla; a nephew, Joseph B. (Karen) Milton; many great-nephews, great-nieces, great-great-nieces, and great-great-nephews.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time today at First Christian Church in Benton.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Kurt Sanders officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau.
