GLENN W. LAMPLEY

Funeral service for Glenn W. Lampley of Cape Girardeau will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. The Rev. John Owen will officiate. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Lampley, 87, died Saturday, May 10, 1997, at St. Francis Medical Center.

He was born Feb. 17, 1910, at Illmo, son of Charles Albert and Mary Boyd Lampley.

He was first married to Gertrude Crumpecker. She died in 1963. He then married Delia Pope on April 30, 1988, in Cape Girardeau. She survives.

Lampley was a lieutenant with the Missouri Highway Patrol for 35 years. He joined the Patrol on July 1, 1935, and retired in 1970. He was a lieutenant colonel with the Missouri National Guard for four years, retiring in 1963.

Lampley played football at Southeast Missouri State University from 1930 to 1934. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau, member of the VFW, Elks Lodge, past-president of the Cape Nutrition Center, and a member of the SEMO Area Agency on Aging for 17 years.

He is also survived by two nieces, Sue Sanders of St. Louis and Mary Leolis of Demotte, Ind.
