ORAN, Mo. -- Glenn Vogel, son of the late Francis and Juanita Riley Vogel, was born May 16, 1937, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 7, 2020, at his home at the age of 83 years.

Glenn was a former co-owner of T&H Grocery and an employee of Halter Gas Co. for several years. Glenn was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of the Knights of Columbus and Guardian Angel Catholic Church. He made many friends over the years, especially Kirby Hahn, who was also Glenn's neighbor. Kirby was his guardian angel on earth.

On Feb. 13, 1960, he was united in marriage to Janis Urhahn in Benton, Missouri. She survives of the home in Oran.

Besides his wife, survivors include a son, Brian (Jennifer) Vogel of Oran; sister, Rosemary Bushko of Jefferson City; grandson, Robert Alan Penrose of Chaffee, Missouri; great-stepgrandchildren, Brandon (Denae) Phillips, Brent (Rachel) Phillips and Bethany (Billy) Kirkpatrick; stepgrandchildren, Cash Lee Phillips, Colt Wayne Phillips, Lacy Kirkpatrick, Kyla Rains and Wren Phillips; sister-in-law, Sonnie Bollinger; brother-in-law, Larry (Linda) Urhahn; nieces, Laura Rockers and Mary Bee Evan; and nephews, Steven Bushko and Cary Joe Bushko.

Besides his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by his daughter, Taryn Ann Penrose; brothers-in-law, Joe Bushko and Donald Lee Bollinger; and nephew, Michael Urhahn.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Oran.

Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Guardian Angel Catholic Church, with the Rev. Joseph Kelly officiating. Interment, with full military honors, will follow in the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations in Glenn's name be sent to the Guardian Angel Catholic Church or school.
