JACKSON -- Alton Glenn Proffer, 81, of Jackson died Wednesday, March 15, 2000, at his home.
He was born Aug. 29, 1918, son of Andrew and Blanche Proffer. He and Hazel Davenport were married Feb. 26, 1938, in Jackson.
Proffer was a self-employed farmer and carpenter. He was born on and lived on the family farm a mile south of Crump until moving to rural Jackson in 1993.
Survivors include his wife; twin daughters, Joyce Proffer of Jackson, Loyce and husband, Bob Flannery of Jackson; a granddaughter, Joy Flannery of Whitewater; two grandsons, Douglas Flannery of Whitewater, Tim Flannery of Marble Hill; and two great-grandchildren, Bridgett Baker and Robert Flannery of Whitewater.
He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Cracraft-Miller Funeral Home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
