Glenn Victor Kirchhoff, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at the Lutheran Home. He was born Dec. 18, 1913, at Egypt Mills, to Herman Harrison and LuLu Kurre Kirchhoff. Glenn Victor Kirchhoff, 96, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Feb. 14, 2010, at the Lutheran Home.

He was born Dec. 18, 1913, at Egypt Mills, to Herman Harrison and LuLu Kurre Kirchhoff. He and Edna Maevers were married Aug. 4, 1940, at Egypt Mills.

Kirchhoff was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. He played music from the time he was 17 to age 94. He played the fiddle, bass and rhythm guitar with several groups including Melodiers, Pop Crites, Golden Slippers and the K's. He worked at Sears 13 years, then was self-employed.

Survivors include his wife, Edna Kirchhoff of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Sharon Dykes of Poplar Bluff, Mo., Vicky Spain of Battlefield, Mo.; three grandchildren, Jay Brian Roth of Willard, Mo., Gina Austed of San Diego, Aaron Spain of Fort Benning, Ga.; five great-grandchildren, Brayden and Barrett Roth of Willard, Austin and Kylie Spain of Fort Benning, and Tyler Austed of San Diego.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Nathan Burgell officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.

Memorial contributions may be given to Trinity Lutheran School Building Fund.
