Glenn E. Daulton, 91, of Caruthersville died Wednesday, May 3, 2000.
He was born in Paragould, Ark., on Aug. 11, 1908, son of Charles and Margaret M. Gilbert Daulton.
He and Marjorie Mitchell were married on March 6, 1939, in Nashville, Tenn. She died Feb. 28, 1999.
He attended Arkansas State University and the University of Arkansas and received his license as a pharmacist in 1933. He practiced in Caruthersville for many years. He also was owner/operator of the Glenn E. Daulton Barge Lines for more than 50 years.
He was honored by the Pemiscot County Chamber of Commerce in 1987 for his dedication to the development of the Caruthersville shipyard. The chamber named him Business Leader of the Year in 1995.
He also served as the chairman of the Caruthersville Housing Authority Board of Directors. The Community Center was named in his honor in 1999.
He belonged to the Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church of Caruthersville for 67 years.
He is survived by two daughters, Diana Frankum of Union City, Tenn., and Dotte East of Cape Girardeau; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral was held Friday at Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with the Revs. John Archer, Steven Douglas and Dr. Rick Broadway officiating. Burial was in the Little Prairie Cemetery.
