DEXTER, Mo. -- Glenn R. Ayers, 76, of Dexter died Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his home.
He was born May 9, 1924, in New Madrid County, son of the late Wylie Thomas and Susie Viola Morrow Ayers. He and Drucille Pixley were married Nov. 7, 1946, at Sikeston, Mo. She survives.
Ayers was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Dexter and was a former claims supervisor for Shelter Insurance. He was a veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include five sons, Philip Ayers of St. Louis County, Stephen Ayers of St. Paul, Minn., Dennis Ayers of O'Fallon, Mo., David Ayers of University City, Mo., and Neal Ayers of Dexter; two daughters, Helen Sue Taylor of Cape Girardeau and Linda Leigh Grzeskowiak of St. Peters, Mo.; a brother, Royce Ayers of Sikeston; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. John Sheley officiating. Burial will be at Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter.
