MARBLE HILL -- Funeral for Glenn Armstrong of Lake City, Fla., was held Monday at Biggs Funeral Home in Lake City. Burial will be today in Florida National Cemetery at Bushnell.
Armstrong, 76, died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at his home.
He moved from Marble Hill to Lake City in May 1998. He retired as a mechanic with a commercial airline and had been a Methodist lay minister.
Armstrong was a veteran of World War II, Korean and Vietnam wars. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1941-49, and served in the U.S. Air Force from 1949-67. He received many medals and commendations in each war, including the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star and a Silver Star.
Survivors include his wife, Violet Armstrong; a son, Gregg Armstrong, and a daughter, Karen Angstadt, all of Lake City; two brothers, Earl Armstrong of Maple Falls, Wis., George Armstrong of Atlanta, Ill.; three sisters, Eileen Karl of St. Louis, Doris Stevens of Kankakee, Ill., June Talon of Ovieda, Fla.; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by a son.
