Glenda “Boots” Burnett Baker, 87, of Delta passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau. She was born March 16, 1930, in Morley, Missouri, to the late Cecil Thomas and Flora Belle Fisher Minner. On Nov. 1, 1947, she married James W. Burnett, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1977. She married Ralph K. Baker on Sept. 15, 1990, and he preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2008...

Glenda “Boots” Burnett Baker, 87, of Delta passed away Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 16, 1930, in Morley, Missouri, to the late Cecil Thomas and Flora Belle Fisher Minner. On Nov. 1, 1947, she married James W. Burnett, and he preceded her in death Oct. 20, 1977. She married Ralph K. Baker on Sept. 15, 1990, and he preceded her in death Feb. 25, 2008.

Glenda retired in 1990 as postmaster for the U.S. Postal Service in Bell City, Missouri. She was a member of General Baptist Church in Randles, and was a member of the National Association of Postmasters of the United States.

Glenda was a very spiritual lady. She had many, many friends, and was loved very much by all, and her family meant everything to her.

She is survived by five sons, Jerry (Dixie) Burnett of Oak Ridge, Bob (Rosalie) Burnett of Jackson, Alan (Jan) Burnett of Benton, Missouri, Tom (Shelley) Burnett of Chaffee, Missouri, and Kenny (Sandy) Burnett of Delta; a daughter, Paulette (Bob) Guidry of El Reno, Oklahoma; two stepsons, Robert (Eva) Baker of Troy, Illinois, and Joe (Tina) Baker of Collinsville, Illinois; two stepdaughters, Janet (Tom) Smith of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Paula (Brian) Broeker of Gillette, Wyoming; a brother, Cecil Minner of Sikeston, Missouri; a sister, Lois Ann Merrick of Florida; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild on the way; eight stepgrandchildren; and three great-stepgrandchildren.

She also was preceded in death by a son, Randy Burnett; five brothers; and three sisters.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. today at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, with the Rev. Mike Huffman officiating. Burial will be at Forest Hills Memorial Gardens in Morley.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Randles General Baptist Church.
