SEDGEWICKVILLE -- A memorial service for Orville Glen "Snapper" Smith of Lake Villa, Ill., was held in October at First Presbyterian Church in Arlington Heights, Ill. The Rev. Thomas D. Frazier officiated. Burial was in Woodland Hills Cemetery.
Strang Funeral Home in Antioch, Ill., was in charge of arrangements.
Smith, 93, died Tuesday, Oct. 5, 1999, at Rolling Hills Manor Nursing Home.
He was born July 4, 1906, in Sedgewickville, son of Turner and Nora Statler Smith. He and Lelah Evelyn Adams were married June 22, 1929 in Jerseyville, Ill. She died in 1972.
Smith was retired from Shell Oil in Wood River, Ill.
Survivors include a son, John Smith of Lake Villa; a brother, John Smith of Jackson; two granddaughters; two great-granddaughters; and two stepgranddaughters.
