Glen Roger Gentry, 80, of Jackson passed away Wednesday, Aug. 10, 2005, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born April 4, 1925, at Miner, Mo., son of Glen H. and Pearl Collins Gentry. He and Rose Clark were married Oct. 6, 1942.
Glen was inducted into the U.S. Army Nov. 3, 1943, serving in the 242nd Infantry during World War II. He was honorably discharged June 27, 1946.
He worked at the former International Shoe Co. in Cape Girardeau, and later worked 23 years for the Terminal Railroad in St. Louis, retiring in 1987. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson and the United Transportation Union.
Loving survivors include his wife, Rose of Jackson; daughter-in-law, Karen Gentry of Jackson; three granddaughters, Lori Wills and husband Brent of Jackson, Jill Noel and husband Brad of Jackson, Amy Haertling and husband Chris of Altenburg, Mo.; six great-grandchildren, Kyla and Brandon Wills, Lindsey and Jason Noel, Allison and Jackson Haertling.
Also surviving are seven brothers, William H. Gentry of Marion, Ill., Lynn R. Gentry of Scott City, Mike Gentry of Cape Girardeau, Steve Gentry of Leopold, Mo., Stan Gentry of Sedgewickville, Mo., Richard Gentry of Cape Girardeau, Danny Gentry of Scott City; two sisters, Betty McKinley of Scott City, and Connie Scales of Houston, Texas.
He was preceded in death by a son, James "Jim" Gentry, and a grandson, Jason Gentry.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson, and after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the church, with the Rev. David Johnson officiating. Interment will be in Russell Heights Cemetery with graveside military honors.
