LELAND, N.C. — Glen Allen Brinkman, 88, formerly of Perryville, Missouri, and Cape Girardeau, died Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at Lower Cape Fear Life Center in Wilmington, North Carolina. Glen and his wife, Joan moved to Leland in February 2022, where he resided until his passing

He was born Aug. 29, 1934, in Perryville, son of Paul George and Bessy Amelia Deevers Brinkman.

He graduated from Perryville High School and received a Bachelor of Science in engineering from University of Missouri-Rolla. He served in the U.S. Army, stationed in Fairbanks, Alaska.

Glen was married to his high school sweetheart, Mary Joan Doernhoefer. They celebrated 69 years of marriage in July 2022. Glen and Joan were members of St. Andrew Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Glen was a sales engineer with Armco Steel, Contech and Rose Concrete. He loved to play golf, fish, camp and spoil his two grandchildren. Glen's family and friends will miss his sense of humor and gift of gab.

In addition to his parents, Glen was predeceased by his son, Jim Brinkman, and his brothers, Ivan, Lloyd and Jack Brinkman.

Surviving in addition to his wife, Joan, are his daughter, Debra (Lee) Ruth of Oak Island, North Carolina; grandson, David Lee (Claire) Maxwell of Charlotte, North Carolina; and granddaughter, Cara Joan Maxwell of Charlotte.

No visitations nor services are planned.

Those who wish to remember Glen in a special way may make donations in his name to Teen Challenge of Cape Girardeau or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
