Funeral service for Gladys M. Norton was held March 15 at Schowengerdt Funeral Chapel in Butler. The Rev. Brent Haworth officiated, with burial in Oak Hill Cemetery at Butler.
Norton, 87, died Wednesday, March 11, 1992, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Aug. 18, 1904, at Pleasant Gap, daughter of August and Pearl Emma Wolf Winter. She married Dairal Norton Dec. 19, 1928. He died July 19, 1977.
Norton graduated from Central Missouri State University in 1954. She taught at Brush College School; Pleasant Ridge, Crossroads, Vista and Gerster Schools, and Butler Junior High School 18 years, retiring in 1971.
She and her husband also operated grocery stores in Amsterdam and Gerster. She was a member of Butler First Christian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Charlotte Leaton of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mary McKinley of Hume, and a grandson.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and sisters.
