Gladys Land

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Gladys Land, 84, of Jonesboro died Tuesday, Feb. 5, 2008, at the home of a daughter, Brenda Hatley in Eustis, Fla.

She was born July 5, 1923, in Reynoldsville, Ill., daughter of Willis and Bertha King Wilson. She married Carl W. Land Sr. Jan. 29, 1938, in Jackson. He died Sept. 27, 1991.

Land attended Jonesboro Pentecostal Church in her younger years. Later when her son Carl began preaching, she traveled many years with him.

Survivors include three daughters, Minnie Skaggs of New Burnside, Ill., Lucille Bryant of Mount Pleasant, Ill., Brenda Hatley of Eustis; three sons, Virgil Land of Ullin, Ill., Rev. Carl Land Jr. of Jonesboro, Jerry Land of Anna, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; three stepgrandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren; six great-stepgrandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and two great-great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, two brothers, a half sister and a half brother.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Paul Mayberry officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.
