Gladys F. Kelly, 98, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, April 19, 2005, at Chateau Girardeau Health Center.
She was born Sept. 19, 1906, in Blytheville, Ark., daughter of C.C. and Eva Grace Clark Adams. She and Robert Emmett Kelly Sr. were married Jan. 15, 1929. He was a longtime Southeast Missourian sports reporter. He passed away April 10, 1961.
Mrs. Kelly was a graduate of Southeast Missouri State University, and did graduate work at Southern Illinois University.
She was a teacher 28 years at Franklin School. She was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, Wimodausis Sunday School Class, and Tri Psi of Delta Delta Delta sorority.
Survivors include a son, Dr. Bob Kelly and wife Sarah of Los Alamos, N.M.; a daughter, Martha Mutschler of LaJolla, Calif.; three grandchildren, Katelyn Palo of Camrose, Alberta, Canada, Frank Kelly of Memphis, Tenn., Tara Orr of Bloomington, Minn.; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and a sister.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Centenary United Methodist Church, with Dr. Clayton Smith officiating.
