GLADYS HOOD

Gladys M. Hood, 88, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000, at Chateau Health Center.

She was born Dec. 22, 1911, in Ripley County, Mo., daughter of Albert and Mary McKinney Myrick. She and Loyal Hood were married July 16, 1929, in Piggott, Ark. He died June 6, 1989.

Hood was an assistant cashier 12 years at Bank of Grandin, Mo., and worked 28 years at First National Bank in Doniphan, Mo. She was a member of Maple United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women; 50-year member of Business and Professional Women; 52-year member of Order of Eastern Star; and St. Francis Medical Center Auxiliary and volunteer.

Survivors include a daughter, Ann Smith of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren Sue and Frank Batchelor and Steve and Suzi Smith; four great-grandchildren, Jon and Angie Batchelor, Matt and Crissy Batchelor, Carrie Beth Smith and Janet Smith.

She was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, and two grandsons.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-7 p.m. today, and Saturday after 11 a.m. at Edwards Funeral Home in Doniphan.

Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Edwards Funeral Home, with the Rev. John Gregory officiating. Burial will be in Doniphan Cemetery.
