Gladys Allegra Duff, 82, 222 Bellevue, died Thursday, May 23, 1996, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born March 15, 1914, at Plato, daughter of Charles E. and Adda F. Crismon Elmore. She and Emmett Duff were married Oct. 20, 1936, at Lebanon, Mo.

Duff attended Southwest Missouri State University in Springfield, Mineral Area College in Park Hills, and received bachelor and master degrees in art from the University of Missouri-Columbia.

She was a teacher 30 years, which included seven years in Texas County, four years in St. Francois County, three years at Nell Holcomb, three years at Lee Hunter in Sikeston, and 13 years in Scott City Public Schools.

Duff was a charter member and past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star Chapter 240 in Plato, member of Chapter JN of PEO, and member of Lynwood Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Ronald Duff of Cape Girardeau, Trent Duff of O'Fallon; two daughters, Dixie Berryman of Jackson, Tenn., Nona Chapman of Cape Girardeau; four sisters, Pauline DeRosa of Ojai, Calif., Nancy Boesl of Houston, Mo., Mary Smith of Licking, Carol Pipkin of Mission Hills, Calif.; three brothers, Carlos Elmore of Houston, Mo., Duane Elmore of Redding, Calif., Donald Elmore of Waterloo, Iowa; 10 grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the chapel, with the Rev. Mark Anderson officiating. Entombment will be in Memorial Park Mausoleum.
