Gladys Choate

ANNA, Ill. -- Gladys Choate, 93, of Anna died Thursday, Feb. 7, 2002, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.

She was born March 20, 1908, in Union County, daughter of Sylvester and Lonella Clutts Cerney. She and Leonard Choate were married Aug. 9, 1930. He died March 23, 1999.

She was a member of the Anna United Methodist Church, where she attended the Be Square Sunday school class for many years. She was active in the Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter 522, and was a past worthy matron.

Survivors include a son, Dale Choate of Metropolis, Ill.; three daughters, Emma Lou Bennett of Anna, Agns Colley of Brighton, Mich., and JoAnne Shanks of Sante Fe, N.M.; seven grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers in infancy and three sisters.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday and on Monday until time of service at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. Eastern Star service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Sidney Davis officiating. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.
