Gladys Boren

JONESBORO, Ill. -- Gladys "Nellie" Boren, 91, of Jonesboro died Thursday, Dec. 26, 2013, at Saint Francis Medical Center.

She was born Thursday, April 27, 1922, in Cape Girardeau to Marion and Effie Short Pierce.

She and Gilbert H. Boren Sr. were married Wednesday, Feb. 22, 1939, at Cape Girardeau. He died Aug. 12, 2004.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include a son, Gilbert H. (Kay) Boren Jr. of McClure, Ill.; a daughter, Karen L. (John) Walker of Pawnee, Ill.; a sister, Minnie Sanders of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers and four sisters.

Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating.

Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery.
