O'FALLON, Mo. -- Gilbert W. Logel of O'Fallon, fortified with the sacraments of Holy Mother Church, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2022, at the age of 95.

Gilbert was born and raised in Kelso, Missouri. He proudly and honorably served in the United States Army during World War II, where he earned the rank of staff sergeant and went on to serve at the Pentagon after the war.

He was a long-time bank executive and trust officer in Cape Girardeau and southern Illinois. He was an accomplished golfer, fast pitch softball player, square dance caller, individual stock picker of large merit and a Knight of Columbus.

Gilbert was the cherished husband of Joan A. Logel, his wife of almost 68 years; beloved father of Michael (Phyllis) Logel, David (Joan E.) Logel, Lisa (Winchell) Logel Carroll and Steven Logel; dear grandfather of Marcie, Benjamin, Patrick, Abby, Tanner, Chase and Caroline; dearest great-grandfather of Lucy, Calvin, Olivia and a sweet baby girl due July 1; devoted cousin, uncle and friend to many.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Clara Logel, as well as his siblings, Wilma, Louise and Edward.

Visitation will be from 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Immaculate Conception Dardenne Prairie Chapel, 7701 Highway N, Dardenne Prairie, Missouri, with a Mass following at 10 a.m. Inurnment will take place following Mass at the Immaculate Conception Niche.

The family would like to extend an invitation to a luncheon at Immaculate Conception Parish Hall at the conclusion of the services.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Birthright of Cape Girardeau.

Hutchens-Stygar Funeral and Cremation Center in St. Charles, Missouri, is in charge of arrangements.
