PERRYVILLE -- Gilbert J. Layton, 91, of Perryville died Tuesday, April 4, 2000, at Perry County Nursing Home.
He was born July 3, 1908, at Silver Lake, son of Houston and Anna Hennecke Layton. He and Catherine Walsh were married Nov. 23, 1936. She died Aug. 1, 1953.
Layton had owned a tavern. He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church at Silver Lake, VFW Post 4282, and AmVets. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
Friends may call at Young and Sons Funeral Home from 4-8 p.m. today, and Thursday from 6:30-9:15 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 tonight, and VFW wake at 7:30.
Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Rose of Lima Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
