Gevie VanGennip

ADVANCE, Mo. -- Gevie VanGennip, 80, of Advance died Friday, July 28, 2006, at her home.

She was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Dongola, Mo., daughter of the late Bill and Lura Effie Carlton Robison. She was a member of Advance First General Baptist Church and was a former Girl Scout leader. She married Ben VanGennip Oct. 22, 1949, in Piggott, Ark. He died June 11, 1995.

Survivors include three daughters, Nada Cope of Glen Carbon, Ill., Linda Star of Litchfield, Ill., and Debbie Rhodes of Advance; a son, David VanGennip of Advance; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Home in Advance. Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Scott Payne officiating. Burial will be in Dongola Cemetery in Dongola, Mo.
