JACKSON -- Funeral for Geska G. Richter of Jackson will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson. The Revs. Sam Roethemeyer and Chris McCutchen will officiate. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today. An Eastern Star service will be held at 7.

Richter, 96, died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at Jackson Manor.

She was born Oct. 2, 1902, near Kurreville, daughter of Gustav and Leonora Fulbright Kurre. She and Guy E. Richter were married March 17, 1924. He died Dec. 26, 1968.

Richter was a graduate of the former Millersville High School, and attended Southeast Missouri State University. She taught at the former Hilderbrand School.

She was a member of Oak Ridge United Methodist Church and its United Methodist Women, Daisy Homemakers Club, member and past worthy matron of Order of Eastern Star at Oak Ridge.

Survivors include a son, Gene Richter of St. Louis; a daughter, Norma Wilkening of Columbia; three sisters, Sophia Brandes and Rosalie Heitman of Jackson, Norene Chamness of Jamestown, Ohio; a brother, E.P. "Pug" Kurre of Jackson; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers.
