Gertrude F. Evans, 90, of Jackson passed away Friday, April 25, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born March 18, 1913, in Baden, Germany, daughter of Joseph and Frances Martin Dunz. She and Joseph Harold "Slim" Evans were married June 9, 1938. He passed away March 13, 1985.
A former resident of Cape Girardeau, she and her husband moved to Jackson in 1968. She was a seamstress at JCPenney in Cape Girardeau from 1956 to 1971.
Mrs. Evans had been a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church since 1968. She was also a member of Telephone Pioneers of America and JCPenney Retirees Group.
Loving survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Gary and Annie Evans and Mike and Joan Evans of Jackson; two daughters and a son-in-law, JoFrances Evans of Jackson, Pat and Larry Kaempfer of Cape Girardeau; a brother, John Dunz of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; two sisters, Hedwig Dunz and Katie Koenig of Gordonville; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Immaculate Conception Church after 9:30 a.m. Monday.
Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the church, with Msgr. Edward Eftink officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions as a mass at Immaculate Conception Church, the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association.
