Mrs. Gertrude Corey, 94, a longtime Cape Girardeau resident, passed away at Jackson Manor on Wednesday, Sept. 2, 1998.
She was born on Nov. 26, 1903, in Alexander County, Illinois, the daughter of Charles and Sarah (Warden) Burgens. She married Fred Heilig who preceeded her in death and later married Everett Corey, who preceeded her in death in 1969.
Mrs. Corey was a Baptist and a homemaker.
She is survived by two sons, Thomas Heilig of Sparks, Nev. and Everett Corey of Pocohontas, Mo.; one daughter, Nell Robinson and son-in-law, Robert Robinson, both of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Helen Melton of Tulsa, Okla.; grandchildren: Monica Lillibridge and her husband, Chad Lillibridge, of Jackson, Robert Robinson and his wife, Jennifer Robinson of Jackson; and one great-grandchild, Madison Lillibridge of Jackson.
She was preceeded in death by a sister, Eva Poole of Cape Girardeau.
Visitation will be from 10 am until noon at Ford & Sons Sprigg Street Chapel in Cape Girardeau on Sunday, Sept. 6, 1998. Graveside services will follow at 1:00 pm at Lorimier Cemetery.
