EAST PRAIRIE -- Funeral for Gertie Lucille Rhodes of East Prairie will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Burl Britt will officiate. Burial will be in Dogwood Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home after 6 p.m. today.

Rhodes, 72, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, at her home.

She was born Dec. 20, 1926, near East Prairie, daughter of Herschel and Emelene Patrick Faire. She and Kyrus E. Rhodes were married in March 1985. He died May 29, 1990.

Rhodes lived in East Prairie most of her life.

Survivors include six sons, Glenn Boyer of the home, Charles and Albert Pruitt of Peoria, Ill., Larry Sipp of Hinckley, Ill., Michael Yarbro of Scott City, Ron Yarbro of East Prairie; a daughter, Connie Lingfelter of East Peoria, Ill.; four stepsons, Kyrus, Danny, Jimmy and Ricky Rhodes, all of Peoria; four stepdaughters, Joyce Eicholtz and Sue Menees of Peoria, Carolyn Nyberg and Polly Brandt of East Peoria.

Also surviving are five brothers, Raymond and Sherman Faire of Cape Girardeau, Delbert Faire of East Prairie, William Faire of Charleston, Glenn Faire of Jackson; four sisters, Shelby Woods of Hornbeak, Tenn., Dorothy Wilson of East Prairie, Betty Douglas of Scott City, Fay Waterhouse of Kansas City; 13 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; 27 stepgrandchildren; and 21 great-stepgrandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister.
