Germaine Marcella Lynch, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Lutheran Home. She was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Benton to Felix and Hilda Hebenstreit Scherer. She and Calvin Wade Lynch were married April 12, 1945, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. They had been married 61 years when Calvin passed away May 18, 2006...

Germaine Marcella Lynch, 96, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Jan. 19, 2024, at Lutheran Home.

She was born Jan. 17, 1928, in Benton to Felix and Hilda Hebenstreit Scherer. She and Calvin Wade Lynch were married April 12, 1945, at St. Mary's Cathedral in Cape Girardeau. They had been married 61 years when Calvin passed away May 18, 2006.

Germaine was a graduate of College High School and a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. She and her husband owned and operated The Elders Rest Home for many years.

Survivors include four sons, Terry (Betty) Lynch of Cape Girardeau, Ron (Donna) Lynch of Barnhart, Brian (Bonnie) Lynch and Darryl (Lesa) Lynch; daughter, Linda (Stanley) Fitch; brother, Francis (Beverly) Scherer of Anna, Illinois; two sisters, Delores Payne of Cape Girardeau and Shirley Guard of Perryville; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Germaine was preceded in death by husband, Calvin W. Lynch; father, Felix Scherer; mother, Hilda Hebenstreit; son, Bradly Lynch; brother, Owen Scherer; and sister, Norma Feuerhahn.

Friends may call from 10 to 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 25, at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Funeral Mass will immediately follow at the church, with the Rev. Rick Jones officiating. Burial will be at St. Mary's Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
