Geraldine R. "Jerry" Patrick, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Tuesday, March 22, 2016, at The Arbors in Cape Girardeau.

One of three children, she was born Dec. 6, 1923, in Jackson to Charles and Dena Graden Froemsdorf. She and Nelson D. Patrick were married Nov. 15, 1941. They had been married nearly 62 years when Nelson passed away Oct. 6, 2003.

Jerry and Nelson owned and operated Patrick's Dry Cleaners in Cape Girardeau for 30 years. In 1985, they sold the business and retired together. Jerry always had a heart for volunteerism. Two days after retirement, she began a career as a volunteer that would span 25 years. She volunteered two days a week at Southeast Hospital, primarily working in haircare. On other days, she dedicated her time to visiting and tending to the special needs of shut-ins. She also worked as a polling judge at voting venues in Cape Girardeau. She was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau for over 60 years.

Things Jerry most enjoyed were spending time with her grandchildren and working in her yard. She had a strong faith and set a great example for all her family.

Loving survivors include her only child, Janet (Larry) Gluesing of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, James Patrick (Arene) Newcomer of Granite City, Illinois, and Daniel Eugene (Lisa) Newcomer of Jackson; four great-grandchildren, Dana, Caleb, Brittany and Keera Newcomer; and a sister, Dee (Paul) Quade of Gordonville.
