Geraldine "Gerry" Gladish, 86, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, July 31, 2003, at St. Francis Medical Center.
She was born Jan. 13, 1917, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of August and Ella Dilport Gockel. She and Jack Gladish were married Aug. 21, 1943, in Dallas, Texas. He died May 16, 1981.
In her younger years, Geraldine was a teller 10 years at First National Bank. She later was office manager at Tate Distributing Co., Ebaugh Refrigeration Services, and ANW Refrigeration Services, all of Cape Girardeau. She worked with Girl Scouts and was a leader several years. She was known as the flower lady for the chrysanthemum garden at her home on North Fountain Street.
She was a member of First Baptist Church and St. Mark Order of Eastern Star Chapter 167.
Survivors include a daughter, Nancy McGrew of Cape Girardeau; two grandsons, Jeremy McGrew of Cape Girardeau, Josh McGrew of Japan; a granddaughter, Kelle McGrew of Manes, Mo.; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Sadler of Mountain Grove, Mo.; and a niece, Mrs. Guy Lowes of Little Rock, Ark.
She was preceded in death by four brothers and five sisters.
Friends may call Saturday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from noon to service time.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Cy Smith officiating. Burial will be in Cape County Memorial Park.
