FARMINGTON, Mo. -- Geraldine "Jeri" Detring, 73, of Farmington, Mo., died Saturday, May 3, 2003, at Mineral Area Regional Medical Center in Farmington.
She was born April 6, 1930, at Flat River, Mo., daughter of Lewis Cole and Anna Belle Meredith Shannon. She and Walter Charles Detring were married May 25, 1948, at Farmington.
She was a 1971 graduate of Southeast Missouri State University and earned a master's degree from Webster University. She taught third grade for 19 years at Farmington public schools, and also taught at St. Joseph's Catholic School. She was a member of Libertyville United Methodist Church for 50 years.
Survivors include her husband of Farmington; two sons, Dr. Kenneth Detring of Jackson and Wayne Detring of Goodlettsville, Tenn.; two sisters, Wilma Kemp of Fort Collins, Colo., and Betty Carr of Park Hills, Mo.; a brother, John Shannon of Florissant, Mo.; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and three brothers.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Farmington and again at Libertyville United Methodist Church from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. at the church, with the Revs. Phil Senter and Eddie Bone officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
