JACKSON -- Funeral service for Gerald R. "Sonny" Froemsdorf of Jackson will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at McCombs Funeral Chapel. The Rev. Paul Winningham will officiate, with burial in Memorial Park at Cape Girardeau.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 4-8 p.m. today. An American Legion service will be held at 7.
Froemsdorf, 63, died Wednesday, Sept. 1, 1993, in an accident on the family farm.
He was born March 29, 1930, in Detroit, Mich., son of Henry and Nell Elizabeth Gilder Froemsdorf. He and Jewell Dean Kraust were married Feb. 21, 1952, in Cape Girardeau County.
Froemsdorf served in the U.S. Naval Reserve from March 1948 to March 1950, and in the U.S. Air Force from March 1950 to March 1954.
He worked at Acme Electric, then Rely Electric, and had been a truck driver for Kagmo Electric Motors, all family businesses. He was a member of American Legion Post 158 and VFW Post 10495 in Jackson, and attended Zion Lutheran Church at Longtown.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bruce Froemsdorf of Wailua, Hawaii, Curt Froemsdorf of Jackson; three daughters, Susan Tucker of Thebes, Ill., Rhonda Kirn and Diane Bowles of Jackson; his mother of Cape Girardeau; a brother, Tom Froemsdorf of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Becky Heuer of Cape Girardeau, and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son, two grandsons and a brother.
