MURPHYSBORO, Ill. -- Funeral for Gerald Miller of Murphysboro will be held at 2 p.m. today at Crain Funeral Home in Anna. The Rev. Richard Sullins will officiate. Burial will be in Anna Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from noon until service time.

Miller, 82, died Sunday, Dec. 19, 1999, at the Rehab and Care Center of Jackson County.

He was born July 1, 1917, in Olive Branch, son of Claude and Drucy Hibbert Miller. He married Florence Ice.

Miller was a teacher, elementary school principal and district superintendent in Illinois 38 years. He worked at schools in Anna, Olive Branch, Pekin, Elkville, Park Ridge, Mt. Prospect and Blue Island.

He had been active in Kiwanis Club and Elks Lodge, and served as president of the RAVE board. He was a member of Anna United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Roger Miller of Nashotah, Wis., Dan Miller of Murphysboro; a daughter, Rena Marzen of Chicago; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother.
