GIPSY, Mo. -- Gerald Dean Jackson, 82, of Gipsy passed away peacefully Friday, Aug. 25, 2017, at his home, with his daughter by his side.
He was born Oct. 7, 1934, at Gipsy, the son of Odes and Cora Lemons Jackson.
Gerald was a veteran of the U.S. Army. he was also a member of Brushcreek Missionary Baptist Church. He and his wife, "Sis," owned and operated Jackson's Store at Gipsy from 1966 to 1979. He retired from the MoDOT, was an avid golfer and loved to fish.
Gerald and Delpha "Sis" West were united in marriage Oct. 24, 1953, in Marble Hill, Missouri, and she preceded him in death May 31, 2014.
Survivors include a daughter, Kim Tannery of Gipsy; a brother, Jay Jackson of Gipsy; one grandson, Mark "Ginger" Tanner; and two great-grandchildren, Grant and Graci.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and one brother, Dale Jackson.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Berrong Cemetery near Gipsy.
