Gerald W. Hitt, 75, of Jackson passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2023, at Chateau Girardeau.
Gerald was born Oct. 10, 1947, in Jackson, son of the late Wesley and Emma Wendel Hitt. He and Donna Williams were married July 5, 1969, in Gordonville. Donna preceded him in death March 27, 2018. Their union blessed them with two children, Russ (Kasey) Hitt and Kelly (Matt) McCurry, both of Mount Juliet, Tennessee.
Gerald was inducted into the U.S. Navy Nov. 19, 1969, and he was honorably discharged Feb. 18, 1972. During his time in the Navy, he served with the Seabees.
Gerald was a 1969 graduate of the former University of Missouri-Rolla, graduating with a degree in civil engineering. He worked for Penzel Construction from 1969 until retiring in 2005.
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
In addition to their loving children, Gerald is survived by three grandchildren, Collin McCurry and Lainey and Alex Hitt, all of Mount Juliet.
In addition to his wife and parents, Gerald was preceded in death by a brother, Gene Hitt.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, at Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday, March 17, at the church, with the Rev. Scott Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Memorials may take the form of contributions to Zion United Methodist Church in Gordonville.
