TAMMS, Ill. -- Gerald Harvell, 81, of Tamms died Thursday, May 30, 2002, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Born Sept. 25, 1920 in Thebes, the son of John and Daisy Wilson Harvell. He was married to Geneva Wilson on Jan. 10, 1942.
A member of the First Baptist Church East in Carondelet, Ill., he was an operating engineer and worked for Columbia Quarry No. 9. He was a life member of the Sugarloaf Memorial Post 6368, Veterans of Foreign Wars in Dupo, Ill.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Jay Harvell and a daughter, Diann Kuni both of Dupo; a sister, Clara Reno of Sheridan, Ill.; four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and two sisters.
Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today at the Crain Funeral Home in Tamms. A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Revs. Clint Nale and Brian Thompson officiating.
Burial will be in McCrite Cemetery with military honors by Pulaski County VFW Post 8891.
