CHARLESTON -- Gerald H. "Jelly" DeField, 75, of Charleston, died Thursday, May 2, 1991, at his home.
He was born March 9, 1916 in the Buckeye community in Mississippi County, son of Edward David and Etna Hay DeField.
He had lived in Charleston most of his life.
He was self employed as a welder and commercial pilot until retirement in 1977. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Bertrand.
He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army. He was a sergeant with National Guard Co. D, 140th Infantry Division for 10 years.
On Jan. 1, 1939, he married Erlene Dye.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Ann DeField and Dean DeField of Charleston; two brothers, Edward and Fred DeField of Charleston, and a sister, Mildred Ruth Gilmore of Sikeston.
One brother preceded him in death.
Funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at McMikle Funeral Chapel in Charleston, with the Rev. Robert Burke officiating. Burial was in IOOF Cemetery.
