Gerald W. Grigsby, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Monticello House in Jackson. He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Helena, Ark., to Walter and Veda Berry Grigsby. Gerald W. Grigsby, 92, of Cape Girardeau passed away Friday, Dec. 14, 2012, at Monticello House in Jackson.

He was born Sept. 10, 1920, in Helena, Ark., to Walter and Veda Berry Grigsby.

Gerald was a corporal in the United States Army during World War II. Gerald prided himself in having the responsibility of driving a Prime Mover Truck to deliver heavy duty ammunition into dangerous combat areas.

Following his honorable discharge from service he met and married the love of his life, Cora Jarrett, June 1, 1946, in Paducah, Ky. They celebrated their 66th anniversary this year.

Gerald was a Master Mechanic at Missouri Illinois Tractor Co. in Charleston, Mo., moving to Cape Girardeau in 1965 when the company relocated to Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his wife, Cora of Cape Girardeau; two daughters, Geralyn (Michael) and Carla (Monty) of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren, Yvaughna (John), Vaughn Jr., Jayson, all of Cape Girardeau; six great-grandchildren, Tyler, Deonna, Hailley, Angel, Autumn and Samuel; four siblings, Emma Jean Ivie, Laverne Richards, Claron Grigsby and Kenneth (Merna) Grigsby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, and a brother.

Friends may call Sunday from 11 a.m. to service time at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Funeral Home with the Rev. Rodger Rice officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum with full military honors by the Missouri Honor Team.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the family.
