CAIRO, Ill. -- Georgia Evelyn Carter, 82, of Cairo, died Friday, April 15, 1994, at her home. She was born March 9, 1912, at Charleston, Mo., daughter of Warford E. and Fannie Lloyd Small. She married John Keaton Carter, who died in 1971. Carter retired from customer service department of Burkart Randal Inc. in 1977, and as bookkeeper at Cairo City Hall in 1986...

CAIRO, Ill. -- Georgia Evelyn Carter, 82, of Cairo, died Friday, April 15, 1994, at her home.

She was born March 9, 1912, at Charleston, Mo., daughter of Warford E. and Fannie Lloyd Small. She married John Keaton Carter, who died in 1971.

Carter retired from customer service department of Burkart Randal Inc. in 1977, and as bookkeeper at Cairo City Hall in 1986.

She was a member of Tigert Memorial Methodist Church, Beta Sigma Phi sorority, former member and officer of Cairo Business and Professional Women's Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Marian Stone of Baton Rouge, La., Pamela Smith of Paducah, Ky.; a sister, Lena Scott of St. Louis, and five grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by five brothers.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. Sunday at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Kenneth Provines officiating. Burial will be in Green Lawn Memorial Gardens at Villa Ridge.
