Georgia L. Bierschwal, 92, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, Feb. 26, 2015, at Fountainbleau Lodge.
She was born May 10, 1922, in Cape Girardeau, to George and Pauline Held Schwab. She married Leslie Bierschwal on May 10, 1940. He preceded her in death Feb. 26, 1973.
Georgia was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Cape Girardeau. She worked at a dress factory in Cape Girardeau until it closed, and then for a time worked at Florsheim Shoe factory before beginning a job as a cook at the Lutheran Home, where she worked until retiring. After retiring, she volunteered at Southeast Hospital.
Survivors include a son, Gale Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau; three grandsons, John Burkhart of Cape Girardeau, George Bierschwal of Scott City and James Bierschwal of Cape Girardeau; a great-grandson, Ben Harmon; and a great-granddaughter, Felicia Bierschwal, both of Cape Girardeau; two great-great-grandchildren, Braeyden and Tyler; a cousin, Kenny Schwab of Cape Girardeau; two nieces; and other relatives.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a sister, Dorothy Sprenger; and a nephew.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service Saturday at Crain Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Loren Boettcher officiating. Interment will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
