POPLAR BLUFF, Mo. -- George Thomas Wallis Jr., 83, of Poplar Bluff, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005, at his home in Poplar Bluff.
He was born on July 19, 1921, at Keener Springs, Mo., son of the late George and Bertha Mae Gunn Wallis. He and Emma Reed were married Aug. 24, 1941, in St. Louis, and she survives of the home.
Wallis was a member of the Church of God of Prophecy in Poplar Bluff, where he served as a trustee for many years. He was a retired superintendent with the Missouri Natural Gas Co., and served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
Survivors include three sons, Gary Wallis of Jacksonville Beach, Fla., and Nelson and Randy Wallis of Poplar Bluff; two daughters, Valerie Lawrence of Poplar Bluff and Georgie Wallis of Gordonville; two sisters, Ann Taylor of Tulelake, Calif., and Blanche Crain of Des Peres, Mo.; a brother, Clint Wallis Sr. of Poplar Bluff; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four sisters and a brother.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Cotrell Funeral Chapel in Poplar Bluff.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral chapel. The Rev. David Allen will officiate with the Rev. Bill Kabler assisting. Burial will be in Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Poplar Bluff.
