JACKSON -- George W. McNeely, 72, of Route 3, Jackson died Saturday, March 28, 1992, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 7, 1920, at Advance, the son of Guy and Estle Hawkins McNeely. On May 17, 1941, he married Wilma Berneice Pierce at Cape Girardeau. She survives of the home.

He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army. He attended First Assembly of God church in Cape Girardeau and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post #3838. He was a lifetime resident of Cape Girardeau County, and worked for 30 year for the Marquette Cement Plant in Cape Girardeau. He also farmed.

Other survivors include two daughters, Sharon McNeely of Route 3, Jackson and Gail Pinkston of Evansville, Ind.; two brothers, Lewis McNeely of Route 4, Jackson and Russell McNeely of Cape Girardeau; and five sisters, Carrie Carter, Juanita Schwab, and Hannah Farrow, all of Cape Girardeau, Fern Tripp of High Ridge and Marie Bollinger of Mountain Home, Idaho.

A daughter and four brothers preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel, where funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Dr. Clarence E. Rohde and the Rev. Gary Brothers will officiate, and burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau. VFW graveside rites will be performed by Post #3838.
