PERRYVILLE -- George W. Kirn, 91, of Perryville, died Friday, June 9, 1995, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Sept. 19, 1903, in Perry County, son of William A. and Rosa Winkler Kirn. He and Frieda A. Gegg were married Oct. 6, 1930, at Weingarten. She died July 2, 1992.
Kirn had been a teacher in rural Perry County. He also owned and operated West End Grocery from 1931-66.
He was a member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church and its Usher Society, Holy Name Society, Perry County Saddle Club, and was a 3rd Degree with Knights of Columbus.
Survivors include three daughters, Kathleen Paulus, Carol Klaus and Jeanette Hoch of Perryville; six sons, Gerald, Harold, Wayne, Roger and Terry Kirn of Perryville, Donald Kirn of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Ed Kirn of Perryville, Elmer Kirn of California; 28 grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and two brothers.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 11 a.m.-9 p.m. Sunday, and 6:30-9:50 a.m. Monday. A wake and Knights of Columbus service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday, and the rosary will be at 9 a.m. Monday.
Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent's Church, with the Rev. Kevin Fausz officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
