ORLANDO, Fla. -- Lt. Col. George E. Tuttle, 80, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2002.
He was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Cape Girardeau, son of Samuel and Minnie Taylor Tuttle.
He was a pilot and air traffic controller in the U.S. Air Force, retiring after 22 years of service.
He moved to Florida in 1964 and attended the First Baptist Church of Orlando.
He was a member of the American Legion, the Military Order of the World Wars and 43-Delta Eagle Pilot Class.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth Elmore Tuttle of Orlando; three sons, Gary Tuttle of Indian Harbour Beach, Fla., Stephen Tuttle of Merritt Island, Fla., Sean Tuttle of Orlando; two daughters, Linda Weinrich of Sarasota, Fla., Sheila Jones of Orlando; a brother, Joe Tuttle of Norfolk, Va.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Woodlawn Funeral Home in Orlando.
