EAST PRAIRIE -- George Thomas Poley, 94, of East Prairie died Saturday, March 9, 1996, at Missouri Delta Medical Center in Sikeston.

He was born Feb. 18, 1902, in Hickman, Ky., to Ed and Minnie Porter Poley. On Oct. 4, 1930, he married Lucy Mae Coffer.

He lived most of his life in Mississippi County as a retired farmer and a member of West Side Baptist Church in East Prairie.

Survivors are his wife; a son, David Poley of Imperial; two daughters, Wilma Sterling and Betty Allen, both of Arnold; two sisters, Pearl Boone of Louisville, Ky., and Ellen Evans of Taft, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Paul Poley; three brothers; and one sister.

Visitation is after 5 p.m.at Shelby Funeral Home in East Prairie. Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Brother George White, pastor of the First Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow in Anniston Cemetery.
