CAIRO, Ill. -- George Robert Vowels, 90, of Cairo died Thursday, July 23, 1992, at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was married to Anna Hornberger Vowels, who preceded him in death in 1948. He also was preceded in death by a daughter.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Cairo.
Survivors include two daughters, Shirley Ann Manker of Lola, Ky. and Norma Jean Adams of Cairo; a sister, Corrine Vowels of Cairo; a brother, Earl "Ben" Vowels of Kansas City; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at the Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo. The rosary will be recited at the funeral home chapel at 7 p.m.
Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, with the Rev. Father Jerome Fortenberry officiating.
